Frequently Asked Questions

Courses

I have paid the course fee but I am unable to access my course. Why is that?

Once you have picked the course and paid the course fee, a member of our admission team will assess your application form and documents to verify your eligibility. You might get a call for a short interview. Once all this is done, you will be given access to the course via our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) (Moodle). The entire process takes a maximum of three days.

Note: Please see terms and conditions for fee refund policy.

What are TQT (Total Qualification Time) and GLH (Guided Learning Hours)?

Total Qualification Time (TQT) is a term used within qualifications regulated by Ofqual as part of the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF). It aims to provide learners with an indication of the minimum length of time it would take the average learner to complete their qualification.

Guided Learning Hours (GLH) Guided Learning Hours is the time a learner is being taught, instructed or participating in education or training under guidance or supervision of a tutor, lecturer etc. (this can also include assessment time).

Please note that the actual time taken by the learner will vary and will depend on the individual effort and hard-work of the learner.

Will I receive any help or guidance while writing assignments?
All students are provided with an induction to better understand the assessment process. You will also be given access to blogs written on how to do your best when preparing for your coursework. If you still need help, you may contact your course tutor and schedule a 30-minute online meeting on ‘assignment preparation’.

It is a self-paced course. Learners progress at their own speed.
How many credits is a course?
Each course has defined credits that should be earned for successful course completion. For course credits, please refer to the course outline of the desired course.

Once you have completed a module, you will be given access to the next module and so on. Please refer to the relevant course page to find out how many modules are there in your course.
Do I need to buy any additional textbooks or reading material?
Course material is  provided through our VLE. It is up to the learners to decide whether they want to buy additional study material.
Can I undertake more than one course at the same time?

Absolutely. However, BSHC recommends that you undertake one course at a time. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your tutor or BSHC support team.

Learner Support

Why should I consider online learning?
Online learning allows you to complete the course in your own time and at your own pace. Online learning gives you an opportunity to manage study/work balance. The cost of our online courses is much less as compared to the same courses studied on campus. The ultimate certification you get will still be exactly the same regardless of how the learning took place.
What are the hardware and software requirements for online learning?
The learner will need to have access to a PC or Laptop with a decent internet connection. These requirements are very easy to meet, but please do get in touch if you have any concerns.
Will employers accept my online qualification?

Yes, employers now realise that a large proportion of students will choose to do online qualifications instead of face to face. In fact, many employers will give preference to this option as it shows that the candidates are self-motivated and can work off of their own initiative.

What makes BSHC good learning platform for online courses?
  1. Welcome with Introduction Video

Many educators seem to underestimate the importance of the introduction. An introduction video with the nice presence of tutors could result in unexpectedly good impressions. The introduction not only explains the prospects and objectives of the course but also enhances the connection between tutors and learners. It makes them more relatable and creates a friendly and positive atmosphere.

  1. Encourage Students to ask Question

At BSHC, questions are considered crucial to online learning. There are various reasons why students ask questions:

  • Their interest in the topic
  • Motivation to learn deeper
  • Difficulties in understanding a particular detail

All these motives bring beneficial information for educators for upgrading the course. Tutors could encourage students by providing answers and additional resources relating to the course, or even giving students credits for their attitude. However, there is no need to answer the questions immediately. Leaving the problems for students to discuss and find out by themselves seems to be a wiser act. It could make them feel more accomplished and grow the online community of learners.

  1. Give Feedback

At BSHC, assignment feedback is considered more important than the final grade. The final grade only presents how well a student performs. The feedback, on the other hand, will tell them what they did wrong and how they could improve it. This information will give learners a guideline to think more critically and study deeper on the subject. Online tutors could also make comments or give individual credits for motivation.

  1. Easily Accessible Resources Repository

24/7 access to learning materials is one of the building blocks of e-learning. At BSHC learners will be able to download and reuse learning materials all through the course.

What are some of the challenges for students when taking an online course with BSHC?
Learners are expected to be self-motivated, disciplined, be able to work independently and do online research. If they get stuck, our tutors are there to guide them through 1-2-1 sessions.
Why should I choose BSHC over another online platform?

BSHC recognises that any of our potential students have many options when it comes to choosing their online learning platform. However, at BSHC, we feel that all our courses are competitively priced while also providing excellent student support services.

What if I fall ill during the course?

All our BSHC courses are self-paced. In case you fall ill, you will not fall behind on your coursework, you can log back in and start where you left off.

If I have completed my course and instalments are pending, will BSHC issue my certificate?

All instalments must be paid before course completion. BSHC will not issue the course certificate until you have paid all the instalments.

How much time will it take to receive my certificate, if I have completed my course and all instalments?

It takes 1-2 weeks (excluding public holidays) to issue a certificate. If you do not receive your certificate within 2 weeks, contact learner support at support@schoolofhealthcare.co.uk.
