The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (RQF), also known as the Level 3 CAVA Assessor qualification replaces A1 assessor course and is considered an industry standard qualification for people looking to assess learners for accredited courses. Before the A1 assessor course, if you wanted to train to become an assessor you would complete the D32 and D33 units. The D Units were then replaced by the A1 Assessor Awards. Finally, the A1 qualification was replaced by the current suite of qualifications, which are commonly referred to as TAQA training (Training Assessment and Quality Assurance) Qualification. Most training centres would expect you to have a CAVA assessor qualification before you start assessing qualifications in the FE and HE sectors. You are not required to have any prior qualification or experience to start this Level 3 CAVA course. This NVQ assessor course will assist you regardless of your subject expertise, whether you assess music or train people. The course is accredited by UK OFQUAL, and is delivered 100% online.

Duration and Delivery
This TAQA course is designed to be completed online at the pace that suits you best. The fast-track level 3 CAVA assessor training course can take as little as 1 week or up to 4 months. This level 3 NVQ assessor qualification is delivered through our Virtual Learning Environment. Our online tutor support is there to facilitate you to achieve your success rate accordingly.
Assessment and Verification
You will be assessed through an observation of you assessing a candidate within your assessment area. You will also be assessed through a portfolio of evidence generated using various assessment methods. You will be offered regular tutorials and online guidance on the assessment process and how to build your portfolio of evidence. All units within this assessor qualification are internally assessed by our qualified assessors and externally verified by the awarding organisation. The assessment takes the form of written assignments and demonstration of assessment skills through video recording, detailed guidance for which will be provided by the tutor.

Entry Requirements
Learners should:
• Be aged 19 or over.
• Have a satisfactory level of Literacy and Numeracy skills.
• Have access to atleast two learners on accredited courses to assess each unit.
Practical Requirement
Unit 2 and 3 are practical and expect that you assess two learners studying for a course that is work based and studying for a course that is mostly theoretical in nature respectively.If you do not have access to learners to meet the practical requirements of the course, you can avail our work-placement service or opt for the Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment.
How will I be assessed?
Most of the tasks would be attempted through essay-style written accounts and reflections of your own assessment practices. Some of the tasks would require submission of relevant work such as audio or video recordings as evidence that you assessed learners in a work or training environment.

What is D32 unit?
This unit helps in assessing learner’s performance. It covers the areas of assessment planning; judging both performance and knowledge and providing feedback; making assessment decisions and providing feedback. The assessment skills to be demonstrated are through the assessment of natural performance, simulation and questioning.
What is D33 unit?
This unit helps to assess learners using different sources of evidence. It covers the areas of assessment planning; judging both performance and providing feedback; making assessment decisions and providing feedback. The assessment skills to be demonstrated are through the assessment of natural performance, simulation, questioning, candidate and peer reports, projects and assignments and assessment of prior achievement and learning.
What does an NVQ Assessor do?
NVQ Assessors support and assess learners that are working towards their National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs). An NVQ Assessor will assess and train learners in order for them to gain the occupational standards needed to achieve their qualification.
What is the time frame to complete the course?
There is no time frame to complete the CAVA training course. Most learners complete it in as few as 1 week (fast track) or up to 4 months (full time).
How many learners do I need to assess to complete this course?
You are required to have access to at least two learners for each unit to fulfill the requirement of unit 2 and 3.
Do I need a workplace or a real class to assess my learners?
Yes, the Level 3 TAQA qualification does not allow simulation.
I am currently not at work, so cannot complete the practical requirements. What should I do?
This should not be a problem. We will wait for you till you find a placement and then, carry out the practical requirements. Meanwhile, you can work on the theoretical part of this course. You can also avail our work placement offer in case you cannot manage finding a placement for yourself. An alternative choice for you is to opt for our Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment which does not require any work placement.
Do my learners need to register with the awarding body?
