The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement is designed for individuals who intend to assess vocational skills and knowledge in educational or training settings, as well as to evaluate occupational competence in a workplace or professional environment. This CAVA is the only assessor qualification that allows you to practice as a fully qualified assessor of both vocational and occupational competency skills.
The Level 3 CAVA is developed according to the National Occupational Standards (NOS) set for learning and development, which meet the assessor requirements of a sector. With this qualification, the learner can work as an assessor in the Further and Higher Education sector. The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement is an Ofqual-regulated course and is delivered 100% online.
Course Units
Learners must complete the three mandatory units of this knowledge and competence-based qualification.
- Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
- Knowledge of the basics of principle and requirements of assessment, including types of methods, planning and involving others
- Learn about how to manage information and follow legal and good practice guidelines.
- Unit 2: Assess occupational competence in the work environment
- Learn about planning and carrying out assessments of occupational competence
- Knowledge of making assessment decisions, providing necessary feedback, and following legal and good practice standards throughout the process
- Unit 3: Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding
- Learn about preparing and carrying out assessments of vocational skills, knowledge, and understanding

Entry Requirements</h2 >
Following are the entry requirements to enrol in this qualification:
- You must be at least 19 years old.
- You must have good literacy and numeracy skills.
- You must have access to at least two learners who are taking recognised qualifications.
Average Completion Timeframe</h2 >
The completion time for the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (CAVA) varies from 8 to 12 weeks to months, depending on the learner’s prior knowledge, pace and level of commitment.
Practical Requirements</h2 >
To successfully complete this qualification, the learner needs to meet the practical requirements of Unit 2 and Unit 3. For this, you must have access to two learners enrolled in recognised qualifications (such as RQF or NVQ). You must be able to plan, carry out, and review real-time assessment practices by assessing a minimum of two candidates in a workplace or training environment that delivers QCF or NVQ qualifications. You must demonstrate vocational skills and occupational competencies while working or being placed in a suitable setting.

Assessment is carried out in the form of an e-portfolio submitted to the tutor consisting of written assignments and evidence of demonstrations of assessment skills in both vocational and occupational working environments. Our assessor internally assesses the portfolio of evidence and then externally verified by awarding organisation.
