The Level 3 Award in Education and Training, formerly known as Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS course). It is an introductory qualification that provides understanding and implementation of inclusive teaching and learning.

L3 AET provides knowledge of assessment and its implementation in education and training. This course is aimed at those learners who want to become teachers or are currently working as teachers. It enables you to teach in the Further and Higher Education sectors. This Level 3 Award in Education and Training is regulated by the UK (OFQUAL) and is delivered 100% online.

This qualification requires you to complete three mandatory units; the details of the units are as follows.

  • Entry Requirements

    The following are the entry requirements to enrol in AET:

    • You must be 19 years old and above to enrol in this qualification.
    • You must have satisfactory literacy and numeracy skills to complete this qualification successfully.

  • Average Completion Timeframe

    The expected completion time for this course ranges from one week to 16 weeks, depending on the individual pace of the learner and level of commitment.

  • Practical Requirements

    Learners must meet the practical requirement of teaching in a small group setting for a minimum of one hour to complete Level 3 AET. This practical requirement can be fulfilled in one of three ways, allowing learners to choose the most suitable option.

    • Conduct a one-hour teaching session for a group of learners. This session will be submitted in recorded form to your tutor.
    • Deliver a 15-minute micro-teaching session and observe your peers teaching for at least 45 minutes in a live meeting.
    • Teach a one-hour session in a professional setting, which will be supervised by a mentor, colleague or supervisor.

  • Assessment

    Assessment for this qualification includes written assignments and a practical demonstration of teaching, carried out through the learner’s preferred method for fulfilling the practical requirement. All assessments are conducted internally by qualified assessors. The assessments are then externally verified by the Awarding Body to ensure quality and consistency.
