The Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices (RQF), also known as the level 4 IQA replaces the V1 course and is considered  the industry standard qualification for becoming an IQA (Internal Quality Assurer) in the FE and HE sector.  The Level 4 Award in IQA course is intended for individuals who have responsibilities related to monitoring and maintaining the quality of assessment processes, ensuring they meet the required standards and regulations, also perfect for those who aspire to become an internal verifier within an organisation. This level 4 award in internal quality assurance will assist you regardless of your subject expertise.

This IQA course is a fundamental qualification for individuals aspiring to become internal quality assessors in the further and higher education sectors. It equips with skills and knowledge to monitor the assessment practices within an organisation and support assessors in maintaining compliance and consistency. This course also helps you to develop confidence in conducting a culture of continuous improvement in assessment delivery. 

The training centres will expect you to have this V1 qualification if you are to take up an IQA position. The Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices (RQF) is accredited by UK OFQUAL and is delivered 100% online.

Practical Requirements

To successfully achieve the Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices (RQF), you must demonstrate your competence through practical application in a real work environment. This includes internally quality assuring the work of at least two assessors, each of whom must be assessing the work of at least two learners. You are required to plan, monitor, and evaluate assessment practices, observe assessment activities, and provide constructive feedback to assessors. You must be observed carrying out internal quality assurance by a qualified internal quality assurer or tutor to ensure your evidence meets the required standards. You are required to submit key pieces of evidence as part of the practical requirement, such as sampling plans, IQA reports, standardisation records, assessor feedback, and communication logs. All activities must be based on live assessments, as simulation is not permitted.

The Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices is assessed through a combination of written assignments and practical evidence. All evidence submitted for the practical tasks must result from your performance as a Trainee IQA within your own work environment. To meet the practical assessment requirements, you must provide evidence of monitoring a minimum of two assessors, each working with at least two learners through components of a qualification. All evidence must be valid, authentic, reliable, and sufficient to meet the assessment criteria.

This qualification focuses on monitoring, evaluating, and improving the quality of assessment practices within a real workplace environment. Your written assignments and practical evidence will be internally assessed by our qualified assessors, while the awarding body will carry out external quality assurance and verification.

Upon successful completion of the Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices, learners can progress into IQA and quality assurance roles within further education, apprenticeships, and vocational training settings.
